Transfer of a levitating nanoparticle between optical tweezers

We demonstrate and characterize the transfer of a levitating silica nanosphere between two optical tweezers, at low pressure. Both traps are mounted on heads fibers placed translation stages in vacuum chambers. Our setup allows to physically separate particle loading environment from experimental chamber, where second tweezer can position inside high Finesse cavity. The separation prevents spoiling cavity mirrors chamber cleanliness during phase. system provides very reliable simply reproducible protocol for preparing optomechanics experiments with nanoparticles, opening way systematic studies quantum phenomena easing realization sensing devices.
